In recent years, due to the rise in new technologies, there are now more ways to learn than ever before. From webinars, to virtual classrooms, online libraries and instant chat with faceless tutors, there’s an approach to learning for everyone. We certainly see the merit in many of these new methods, but we still believe that for many students a classroom based course for professional qualifications is one of the most effective routes to follow. Here’s why:
Essential skills for business
As analytical accountants, some of us may be more comfortable spending our time interacting with screens and spreadsheets rather than human faces. However, despite the rapid rise in technology much of business today still relies on traditional face-to-face meetings and relationships with real people. Classroom learning in a discursive environment, sharing ideas with like-minded individuals and having direct access to a professional tutor not only provide an excellent opportunity to really get to grips with the theory of your course, but also allow you to practice having high level, technical discussions face-to-face, which may come in very useful in real-life workplace scenarios.
Don’t forget that classes are also a great way to network – so as well as learning alongside other people, you could potentially be in a room with 10 other useful business contacts in the future.
Personalised support
We all learn in different ways and at different speeds. Sometimes we stumble over little things, sometimes we struggle with whole chapters, and sometimes we skip over small (but sometimes critical) details that only a professional who knows what they’re talking about will be able to spot and help with. Working directly with a tutor can help you learn best practice at a pace you’re comfortable with and help you iron out little foibles that might be holding you back from achieving your potential. This level of personal attention is very difficult to get from online or other types of learning.
Direct access to tutors
At Reed Business School, access to our tutors doesn’t switch off the moment you step outside of the classroom. Indeed, for any credible classroom-based learning programme, being able to follow-up on points raised in the lesson or during revision should come as standard. With experienced, expert tutors that you build a relationship with in class, you’re then much more confident in being able to ask follow-up questions and get advice that’s tailored to you and your understanding of the subject.
The result: high pass rates
In general, students who study in a classroom-based environment are more likely to pass their exams. At Reed Business School our pass rates this year have once again been exceptional, and we pride ourselves on the professional supportive environment we provide our students in order to enable them to pass with flying colours.
