Course Structure

Instructions for day one
Materials, Study Manual, Practice & Revision Kit, Pocket Notes and Course Notes will be posted to you prior to the course starting. For students sitting ACCA PM, FM & SBL, we will provide some pre-course work within your Team.  Please ensure you login to your team in advance and review our pre-course guidance.

What to Expect

  1. Microsoft Team Login: You will be given access to a dedicated Team for each subject.  Within your subject Team you will have ongoing access to course materials, recordings, practice exams, access to your tutor and everything you will need for your studies.
  2. Login account: You will need to set up your Microsoft Teams account before using Teams for the first time. You will be emailed instructions on how to do so the week before your first course.
  3. Start time: Your course will start at 9.00am sharp and finish around 5.00pm.  Please ensure you join the class at least 15 mins before it is due to start.
  4. Laptop: Whether you are attending face to face or remote, you will need to bring a laptop computer with you to your class.
  5. Material: Course Notes and ACCA study material will be posted to you prior to the first day of the introductory course.
  6. Important dates and deadlines: Within your team you will have a document with important dates and deadlines including practice exam details.
  7. Pre-course work: Some courses require pre-work and details will be within your Team.
  8. Mobile Phones: Please keep mobile phones turned off during class.

Special Requirements: If you have any special requirements or think you may need any adjustments, modifications or assistance to enable you to attend Reed Business School, please provide details in advance for your course commencement date so we can ensure you studies with us run as smoothly as possible.

Planners, Programmes and Timetables

The ACCA timetable is released approximately 8 months prior to the June and December exam sitting so you are able to plan your studies and work.  Documents can be downloaded under the Find a Course page.

Course Tests and Revision Mocks / Question Based Days

Course Testing

You will be required to complete the following tests during your course:

On-demand CBE subjects you will be given a practise mock to complete at the end of the integrated course which will be de-briefed by the tutor.

Skills/Professional Subjects: A short course test will be set during the ‘tuition’ stage of your studies.  This allows the tutor to review your progress.

Revision Mocks/Question Based Day (QBD): Either a full mock or QBD will be set at the end of the revision phase. QBD’s are marked in ‘real time’ and tutors provide a de-brief.

Reporting: If firm funded or attending as an Apprentice, reports will be sent to your employer including your  submission dates, marks achieved and tutor feedback  comments.

On-demand Computer Based Exams (CBEs)

On-demand Exams

Reed is an ACCA CBE exam centre for on-demand exams.  Alternatively they can be booked at an ACCA exam centre or taken remotely.

All other (non on-demand) exams need to be booked with ACCA.

Course Tests

You will be required to complete the following tests during and after your course:

Certificate and OT Subjects: Your course tutor will set a court test during your course.  This allows the tutor to review your progress.

Case Study Subjects: Your course tutor will set and mark a minimum of 2 mock Case Study style course tests and provide a class de-brief.

Reporting: If firm funded or attending as an Apprentice, reports will be sent to your employer including your  marks achieved and tutor feedback  comments

Computer Based Exams (CBEs)

Reed Business School is a Pearson approved exam centre and we do host limited exams at our venue.

Your course tutor will encourage you to book your exam to (a) secure a place and (b) have  a focus to work towards.

Students studying towards a Case Study subject must review the exam entry dates and deadlines.

Here is all the information you will need during your ICAEW studies

Course Structure

Instructions for day one
You will receive an email with a licence to redeem your ICAEW digital materials prior to the course starting.  You will need your ICAEW registration login details to access this material.  A hard copy of course notes will be posted to you prior to the course starting.

What to Expect

Planning your future studies

  1. A study programme detailing a full study route and an annual planner detailing course dates are released on a calendar basis.  Document can be downloaded under the ‘Find a course’ page.
  2. Certificate level subjects run as integrated short courses.  Professional and Advanced Level courses run as teaching and revision blocks.  Please review the annual planner for detailed information.

Project Papers, Course Exams and Mocks Exams

Project Papers: For the Professional and Advanced Level subjects, the course will include project papers which are home study exams and an integral part of your home study.  Submission details are provided within your Team.  Please note your submission and marks achieved do form part of course reports to your employer.

Course Exam: A course exam is set within exam conditions at the end of the taught phase of your studies.  This is important exam practice and achieving an average mark at this stage of your studies is expected.

Mock Exam/Question Based Day (QBD): A full mock in CBE format is set at the end of the revision phase under exam conditions.  Some subjects have a QBD which are marked in ‘real time’ and tutors provide a de-brief.

Reporting: If firm funded or attending as an Apprentice, reports will be sent to your employer including your practice exam submission dates, marks achieved and tutor feedback  comments.

Exam Information

Reed Business School is a Pearson approved exam centre for the Certificate Level exams.  Availability at the Business School is limited.

Exam Application

Level 4 and level 7 apprenticeships are split into Gateway Training and End Point Assessment (EPA). All apprentices must complete a minimum of 12 months Gateway Training before they can enter for End Point Assessment.

This platform will support your apprenticeship journey allowing you to track your progress, arrange review meetings with your Learning Coach as well as contact and receive feedback from your learning coach using one unified system.

Throughout the apprenticeship programme, the apprentice will develop their professional skills and behaviours. A report of these skills forms part of the end point assessment.

This element of training is supported by a suite of online modules, which are mapped to specific skills and behaviours requirements.  A full annual subscription is worth £650/year and is provided within the Apprenticeship funding.   accountingcpd.net

  • The results of the home study tests (if applicable) and tutor comments
  • Ranked course report to show where in the class the student sits
  • Tutor comment with an overview of how they have contributed/ progressed throughout their studies
  • Attendance and behaviour
