As I have come to realise, life really does get in the way of studying, EVEN when a calendar is printed out, nicely labelled with known previous engagements and free time to revise is all laid out in front of you.
We were all given a link test to complete so we can be marked and advised on where our strong and weak points are, ready in time for the revision course at the end of October. That is all well and good, but the only way I will be able to give everything I have into this is to work through practice questions and revise. Therefore I really need to get my head down, even if it is just an hour a day during my lunch break, at least some information should slowly sinking in.
Today I realised that some information has found a place in my brain. A colleague of mine is revising for their AAT tax exam and needed some help understanding the first, second and third year opening rules, and somehow, I did manage to explain it without the aid of a my textbook!
I know it is cliché but, best advice I can give is practice, practice, practice! Also make sure you ask your teacher, colleague, check on the internet, anything to help explain something that you do not quite understand. Best to ask than to suffer in silence and think you cannot do it.
