Reed Business School would like to introduce the tutoring team below, all are subject specialists with vast experience. Find out a bit more about the people who will be teaching you, the majority have been long established with the Business School, teaching with us for many years.

Jayne Boucher FCCA, CTA

Jayne Boucher FCCA, CTA

Name:  Jayne Boucher

Subject specialism: Tax and financial reporting

Been with Reed since: Summer 2016

Professional profile: Trained in medium sized practice gaining experience in accounts prep, audit and tax before specialising in tax and gaining CTA qualification. Been lecturing since 2008, with FBT for 8 years and since then freelancing with private colleges and universities. Teaching CIMA BA3/F1, ACCA F3, F6 & P6, ICAEW TC&BPT and ATT papers for Tolleys Exam Training. Ongoing private practice with husband for a small number of clients dealing with everything from book-keeping, VAT and Payroll to complex tax advice cases.

Known by students for: Putting it into plain English, adding real-life stories, being approachable.

Interests: 1 dog 2 cats and 2 children – no time for anything any more exciting but live to go on holiday whenever I can!!

USP: Running my own practice means I can relate the theory back to current real-life matters and issues relevant in the industry today.

David Harris FCMA

David Harris FCMA

Name: David Harris

Subject specialism: Case Studies and Strategy

Been with Reed Business School since: 2002

Professional profile: David Harris is Managing Director of Chevin Consultants Ltd., a management, strategy and educational consulting firm that he founded in 1997. David is a graduate in social sciences and has worked for a large UK clearing bank, a firm of human resource consultants, and a large heavy engineering company. It was during this time that David qualified as an accountant with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). David was made a Fellow of the Institute in 1992.

Known by students for: Lots of useful practical examples, and great advice on exam technique.

Interests: Fishing, motorcycles, travel, scuba, sailing and my 2 dogs

Matt Holden ACA

Matt Holden ACA

Name: Matt Holden

Subject specialism: Financial and Business Management and Case Study

Been with Reed Business School since: 1999

Professional profile: Qualified Chartered Accountant and Associate Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers

Known by students for: Challenge of giving students a real – life context for the abstract concepts they face in his subjects.  He is determined to ensure students understand the relevance of their studies to the outside world and the dynamic markets that they operate in.  He feels it is essential students appreciate how their decisions and advice interact with the globalised economy we all live in.

Interests: Matt enjoys spending time with his family, his wife and two sons.  He likes all sport but is particularly passionate about playing and watching football and cricket.  He is the coach of his youngest son’s football team.  Along with his two boys, he is a season ticket holder at his beloved Walsall FC.  Matt also enjoys the great outdoors, particularly trekking in The Peak District just north of where he lives.  He is also a keen gardener.

Name: Jenny Winstanley

Subject specialism: Financial Reporting and Audit

Been with Reed Business School since: 1999

Professional profile: Jenny has lectured at Reed since 1999 and before that at FTC in Manchester. She specializes in Financial Reporting and Audit. Jenny takes pride in her technical knowledge and is totally committed to the student’s performance in exams. She has the ability to encourage students to achieve their potential in her subjects.

Known by students for: Fantastic technical knowledge and is totally committed to the student’s performance in exams. She has the ability to encourage students to achieve their maximum potential in her subjects. Always willing to offer to mark questions and provides detailed feedback that enables students performance to improve.

Interests: Tae Kwan-do, Pilates, Ballet pilates, walking, making anything creative, reading

Hannah Starling ACA

Name: Hannah Starling

Subject specialism: Auditing and Financial reporting

Been with Reed Business School since: 2005

Professional profile: Hannah qualified in 1997 with Ernst & Young where she worked as a Senior Manager in the Audit department. She spent two years on secondment to the Ernst & Young Melbourne office and a year on secondment to the recruitment and training department in London. She joined BPP Professional Education in 2003 where she taught a range of financial accounting, auditing and law papers at all levels for CIMA, ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA and AAT. Hannah is now a freelance tutor teaching advanced auditing and financial reporting papers. She also writes training materials and marks mock exams and regularly teaches for Reed.

Known by students for: Approachability, focusing on exam technique to achieve a solid 1st time pass.

Interests: When not teaching Hannah will often be seen running around the glorious Cotswolds countryside.

Robin Pincott

Robin Pincott

Name: Robin Pincott

Subject specialism: IFRS, UK GAAP and Audit & Assurance

Been with Reed Business School since: 2009

Professional profile: Based out of the Thames Valley, Robin delivers training for professional accountancy exams and CPD. He is also a partner with accountancy firm Pincott Lee advising a wide range of businesses. After studying Maths at Bristol University, Robin joined Deloitte & Touche and qualified with the ICAEW in 1996, becoming an audit manager and training manager. He then delivered training for ATC and BPP. His experience includes Sarbanes-Oxley consultancy work and financial training for numerous large and small companies, all the Big 4 accountancy firms and the University of Reading.

Known by students for: His enthusiasm in the classroom.

Interests: Outside of the classroom Robin is a keen swimmer and cyclist and also attempts to hack his way around the Thames Valley’s golf courses when he gets the chance.

Reed Business School’s unique selling point: Robin is a rare breed in that he is also a partner is his own accountancy firm, Pincott Lee, allowing him to bring real life experiences into the classroom.

Dan Tuckey ACA

Dan Tuckey ACA

Name: Dan Tuckey

Subject specialism: ACCA P3

Been with Reed Business School since: 2007

Professional profile: Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (1991). Dan qualified with Coopers and Lybrand In Bristol and joined FTC in 1991 where he taught on both ACCA and ICAEW. In 2007 he became a freelance tutor teaching ACCA P3 and ICAEW Advanced case study. Dan is also a writer of both ICAEW and ACCA material.

Known by students for: Pacing about the classroom and asking lots of questions and a welcome reputation for getting the best out of his students.

Interests: Crystal Palace Football Club, cricket and curry

Name: Steve Darnell

Subject specialism: Financial Management and Management Accounting

Been with Reed Business School since: First time in 1988 (Full time) then again in 2004 as a freelance

Professional profile:  Steve has been involved in professional accountancy training for over 25 years. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Grant Thornton and had a teaching period at Reed Business School before pursuing other paths and becoming a freelance tutor in 2004.

Known by students for:  Thorough preparation and a dry sense of humour! 

Interests:  Apart from the family, include astronomy, walking, swimming and reading

Caroline Fowler ACA

Caroline Fowler ACA

Name: Caroline Fowler

Subject specialism: Taxation

Been with Reed Business School since: 2001

Professional profile: Caroline started her lecturing career at ATC in London and became a director responsible for clients such as PWC and Deloitte & Touche. She went on to specialise in lecturing taxation for all the main accountancy examinations and also lectures on accountancy and taxation practical courses. She has over 15 years of experience in training accountants both in the UK and abroad.

Known by students for: Enthusiasm, approachability and the ability to explain difficult technical concepts in an easy to understand manner

Interests: Outside of lecturing Caroline enjoys playing tennis, reading and exploring the great outdoors!
