Do I have to stay residentially?

No, it is possible to commute by road or rail. However, we have excellent shared and single rooms for students who are travelling long distances, or simply want to study in the peace and tranquillity of the Cotswolds.

Is it possible to request to share a room with my friend?

Yes. Please state who you would like to share with on your enrolment form and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Can I book an extra nights’ accommodation?

Yes, please give as much notice as possible to ensure availability. Costs vary depending on the course and time of year. Write details on your enrolment form or email us as soon as possible.

I really do not like staying away from home. What are the advantages of studying residentially?

We are situated in a very quiet but beautiful rural Cotswold village with few distractions. It is not always nice staying away from home, but as all meals are provided at the school, this really frees up your time for study. Students find that they can get so much work completed here that they have a great deal more time to relax when they are at home.

What time can I check into my room the day before my course is due to start?

Any time! Your room will be ready for you in the morning of the day before your course is due to start.  Limited individual room keys are available from reception at a £10 deposit charge.

Does the Business School serve cooked breakfast?

No, but there is a full continental breakfast. We feel that as there are hot choice options at lunch and dinner three full meals a day may be a little much.

What will my accommodation be like?

All of our accommodation is in cottages in the village of Little Compton. Some of the cottages are about 30 seconds away from the Manor where the school is situated and some cottages are about a three minute walk away. Each cottage has its own kitchen with free hot drinks (rarely used as the courses are fully catered) and bathrooms are shared. There are about 7-10 rooms in each cottage and it is your choice whether to take a single room or share with someone from your course. The shared room facility works well and is very cost effective-for as little as £28 + VAT a night you can have a shared room and all of your meals and hot drinks. It is almost cheaper than the cost of commuting!

Does the Business School run full time courses for foreign students?

No. All of our courses are part time. However, we are registered with the DFES and it is possible to take a combination of part time courses to make up the days required.

Can students have access to the internet during break times and in the evening?

Yes, there is a wi-fi connection within the ground floor of the Manor where students can use their own laptops.

Where are the nearest fast food restaurants?

There are few fast food restaurants within 5 miles of the Business School. However, close by we have a Tescos, Fish and Chip shops, and a variety of restaurants and pubs.

I have a food allergy. Will Reed be able to cater for me?

Yes. Please state any dietary restrictions on your enrolment form and the kitchen will do their best to accommodate your needs.

How many people will there be in my class?

Class sizes range from 5 people to about 40.

Should I attend tuition & revision phases or just a revision course?

This usually depends on how much support you receive from your employer by way of contribution to costs and study leave or if self-employed how much money you have to spend. Time spent on these courses hugely reduces the amount of self study time and the condensed tuition course notes are a great help instead of having to work through the whole study text. Also, many of these topics are difficult to understand and do require lengthy explanations.

In conclusion, the full link course will give you the best chance of passing. It is only if you are very motivated and disciplined at home that revision only courses will work for you.

If I am unable to understand a technical point, how will the tutor be able to help me?

Our tutors are available to give extra help before class starts, during the lunch hour and after class ends. As our class sizes are small, there is rarely a problem getting to see a tutor during these times. Tutors then give their email contact for queries out of course times. It is also possible for students to call the Business School to speak to our full time tutors even if they are not teaching them on a particular course.

Will I be charged the full course fees if I am unable to attend every day?

No. You will only be charged for days you attend as long as notice is given.

What material will be provided?

Full course/revision notes and revision kits are included in the course fees. You can also purchase the relevant study texts and passcards from us.

Do you have any open days where I can come and have a look around?

Yes, we have open days and sample lectures throughout the year. Please call 01608 674 224 to find out when the next date will be. Also, it is possible to visit the school at most times of the year if you cannot make the open days.

My employer has not heard of Reed Business School and feels that I should go to a larger competitor. How should I deal with this?

Reed Business School has all of the advantages of our larger competitors such as excellent tuition, fantastic pass rates and good quality learning material. However, because we only operate from one centre and have fewer students, we can offer a much more personal service. All of our students are treated as individuals with there own learning style and with smaller class sizes, students get much more time with the tutor. Our Business Development Manager Natalie Winslow is always happy to arrange to meet with your employer to talk through the choices.

I do not get study leave. So do you provide any weekend courses?

Yes, we provide weekend courses for CIMA Professional and CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting Qualifications. Some of our ACCA courses also fall at weekends.

What else will I find in Little Compton?

Little Compton contains a pub and a bowls club. The pub holds a small range of toiletries for sale but it is recommended that you bring all you need with you. The Manor has a daily delivery of newspapers and has a vending machine.

There are many country walks in and around the village.
